Vision
The goal of Living Hills is to develop a homestead where we focus on ecological responsibility and self-sufficiency. We enjoy hosting like-minded people so that we can share in the benefits and responsibilities of caring for the homestead and empower others with a similar vision.
With the help of WWOOFers we are building a Permaculture landscape to provide food, shelter and other human needs. Our designs incorporate buildings made with locally harvested timber and earth. We working towards growing all our vegetables, fruits, herbs, flowers, eggs, dairy, meat, honey and mushrooms. Whether it be food, building supplies, or any other materials we strive to use on site or local resources as much as possible.
Our projects are in both town and country settings. Our place in the country is not a commercial farm, but a home striving toward self-sufficiency with subsistence scale farming, natural buildings, food forests, and electricity from the sun, all under a Permaculture model. We purchased a 1912 Craftsman Bungalow in 2009 and intend to renovate this dilapidated, but historical house to become a model of in-town ecologically-responsible living.
